I don't know what I needed really; I just knew I had to go. For all you New Yorkers out there, you know exactly what I am talking about. The disorganized aisles, lost shoppers and store help that can only be described as ghostlike--Duane Reade is an institution that is absolutely consistent throughout Sheilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14716177451571130500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1904996187837838413.post-60528118164844733012008-05-24T15:22:00.001-07:002008-05-24T15:45:09.723-07:00Sheila: Who Do You Call?We asked you to write in to tell us who is the first person you call when the best thing in the world happens or the worst? On Monday's Satellite Sisters, we will share with you a couple of great emails we have gotten in this week from American military personnel serving abroad. In our own backyards on Memorial Day, it's easy to forget how many are so faraway or gone entirely.
A favorite email this week also included a wonderful photo. Meet Lt. Col. Jeffrey Mawhinney and his "happy dog" Boe. What is this a picture of? It's a picture of everything I was planning to wear at the beach this weekend held hostage inside my malfunctioning washing machine. As you can see, I have a front loader. What you may not be able to see is that it is full of water. It refuses to spin and drain. Which means the door will not unlock. Or if it did, water would come gushing out onto my floor.

It had all the pathos of a Greek tragedy; the urgency of an Olympic race; the hope of a young stallion breaking away on the home stretch at the Derby--and that would be Antonia. What is that hanging on my back fence? And why is Kitty running away? These are the two dresses I bought for the Gracie Allen Awards next week, and the two dresses I returned. The one on the left looked like a big shiny brown paper bag on me, and the asymmetrical neckline was very unflattering. The black dress on the right was lovely, but had way too much decolletage for this Lab Rat.
