Julie: Where in the World?
I haven't actually been asked the question, but I anticipate that eventually someone will want to know, " Where in the world do you go for International News Round-up stories?"
Of course, I have many sources for the major and obscure topics that we talk about each week. I thought you might be interested in one of my new favorite sites which is a global incident map.
I want to warn you that there is a lot of blinking and flashing on the site. If you put your cursor on any one of the icons, it will take you to the actually news story filed by legitimate news organizations. Let me know what you think.

Julie,
Very interesting...and very scary. Is this a typical day, or are there usually more/less? I bookmarked it, just in case.
Be nice to the newbie...finally accepted Blogmeister Sheila's challenge!

I have wondered this, Julie, as I always appreciate your informed and detailed presentation of international news with none of the spin that we receive from the easily accesible sources that I feel are dumbed down and over edited. Thank you for sharing this resource.

Wow. That is both cool and scary. It is a "quiet" day I suppose when there are no chemical attacks and no attempted assassinations! For real, thanks for the resource.

Hi Julie,
Wow, great web site. I love the INRU--it is informative, concise, insightful and fun. I've noticed that some of the big news stations are copying your idea, but none are as good as the INRU.
All the best,
L

Hi Julie,
International news roundup is my favorite. The site is pretty cool. I'm taking Sheila's challenge and leaving a comment - maybe next time I'll even be witty and intelligent.

Julie,
I love the INRU. I find it facinating and concise about the world events. Thanks for the link. I'm going to look at it after I finish the SisterSpot for the day.

Julie,
I love your ITRU and always wondered how you found all the stories. The map is very interesting. But it's not just knowing the activities, but your smooth, amazing delivery in a way that always makes it interesting taht impresses me (as someone who hates to read the international news section in the Washington Post and feels guilty about it! It makes me SOOO depressed.) It's a very unique skill -- perhaps you should try out for CNN???
Anyhow, you remind me of the local "sports in a minute" that they have every morning on the local news. I don't read sports either, but do need that minute so I don't seem totally clueless about the Redskins and the opening of the new Washington National's baseball park this weekend.
Keep up the good work!

Julie,
What an amazing site! I have absolutely bookmarked that one! It's pretty disturbing, isn't it? And welcome cape cod sister, my parents live on the cape and love it! (welcome to denise, too!)
Thanks again, Julie! As usual, you have opened my eyes; and actually have my my jaw dropping, too!

Julie,
As a fellow international travel I know that good international news is hard to find. Thanks for the link. The information is good, but watching so much of the map blink is a little scary.
I enjoy INRU. Keep us informed!

I love the INRU too. I like to stay in tune with current events, but get overwhelmed in trying to read the paper, and the news is always so depressing. You manage to make it entertaining and informative. Thank you Julie!

I always enjoy your International News Round-up. In fact, it's inspired me to add The Economist (weekly magazine) to my reading selection.

Very interesting site. Thanks for sharing it.
I do love your International News Roundup. I hate to admit it, but I did not stay all that informed before listening to you. I mean, I read news around where I live and the US. Now I pay more attention to what is going on in the rest of the world. Thanks Julie!!!

What a fascinating site this is! I bookmarked it, too.
It's surprising and a little scary to think that all of those things are happening in the world. There are way too many bombs & dangerous chemicals around!
